BORN HULL 1893. SON OF CHARLES & SARAH ELLEN BOOTHBY, AT 4 EMMELINES TERRACE, ST PAULS STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS) AND 1, VIRGO TERRACE, WESTMORELAND STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). A SINGLE MAN, EMPLOYED AS A HULL DOCK LABOURER. HE LIVED AT 8 VICTORIA TERRACE, STUDLEY STREET, HULL.
HE ENLISTED IN HULL IN 1914. SERVED WITH THE 8TH EAST YORKSHIRE BATTALION. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 18/08/1916, AGED 23. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS SISTER, SARAH. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 15/09/1916.
HE IS BURIED ON THE SOMME. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, "IN LOVING MEMORY OF MY DEAR SON"
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 23/08/1916. HIS WAR PENSION WENT TO HIS MOTHER, WHO MOVED TO 1 VIRAGO TERRACE, WESTMORELAND STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION RECORDS).
