BORN HULL 1893. SON OF GEORGE & ANNIE MORRIS.OF 4, WAWNE TERRACE, WAWNE STREET, HULL (ARMY & WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HE HAD TWO BROTHERS, GEORGE AND SIDNEY AND ONE SISTER, DORA.

BEFORE THE WAR HE WAS AN APPRENTICE BARBER (1911 CENSUS) AND THEN WORKED HOR HOLMES TANNERY, SCULCOATES LANE WHERE HE HAD WORKED FOR SEVEN YEARS AND WAS GREATLY RESPECTED. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 4 INCHES TALL, 34-37 INCH CHEST, 118 LBS WEIGHT, GOOD PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT.

HE ENLISTED AT BEVERLEY, ON 08/12/1915. CALLED UP ON 07/04/1916. SENT TO FRANCE 10/07/1916. JOINED THE 8TH EYR ON 22/07/1916. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 18/08/1916, AGED 23. COMMEMORATED ON THE THIEPVAL MEMORIAL. HE HAD SERVED IN THE ARMY FOR 255 DAYS.  UNMARRIED. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER, GEORGE.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH ON 20TH SEPTEMBER 1916.*

LEFT BROTHERS, GEORGE & SYDNEY WHO ALSO SERVED & SISTER DORA. HIS BROTHER, SYDNEY,4409, EYR WAS AWARDED THE SILVER WOUND BADGE (WAR PENSION RECORDS)
