BORN HULL. SON OF CHARLES NEEDLEY (1859-1908) AND KATE NEEDLEY (1863-1937), OF 8 LINTON STREET, HARPURHEY, MANCHESTER. ONE OF SEVEN CHILDREN. HE ENLISTED IN MANCHESTER. SERVED WITH THE MANCHESTER REGIMENT. KILLED AT DEVILLE WOOD, AT THE SOMME, ON 18/08/1916, AGED 28. HE IS BURIED AT DELVILLE WOOD CEMETERY, LONGUEVAL. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, "EVER REMEMBERED".
HIS BROTHER CHARLES NEEDLEY WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 22/03/1918, AGED 20.
