BORN HULL 07/06/1889. SON OF ROBERT WILLIAM WRIDE AND ADA HUNT, OF 11 DENE STREET, NEW BRIDGE ROAD AND 50 PAISLEY STREET, HULL (HDM ADDRESS, 01/09/1917). SON OF A CARPENTER. BEFORE GOING TO CANADA HE WORKED IN THE PUBLISHING DEPARTMENT AT THE HULL DAILY MAIL AND HULL TIMES. HE HAD ALSO SERVED 7 YEARS IN THE YORKSHIRE REGIMENT TERRITORIALS. HE EMIGRATED TO CANADA, ON 17/07/1909. WORKED AS A COOK. MARRIED HETTIE HILDA GOUGH, ON 24/04/1912 AND LIVED AT MUNROE HOUSE, PETERBOROUGH, ONTARIO. HE ENLISTED IN CANADA, ON 05/11/1915. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 5 INCHES TALL, 38 INCH CHEST, BLUE EYES, DARK BROWN HAIR. SERVED AS SERGEANT IN THE 2ND EASTERN ONTARIO BATTALION, AS PART OF THE CANADIAN EXPEDITIONARY FORCE. HE WAS KILLED AT VIMY RIDGE ON 18/08/1917, AGED 31. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE VIMY MEMORIAL, PAS DE CALAIS, FRANCE.

HE HAD TWO OTHER BROTHERS SERVING AND HIS PICTURE APPEARS IN THE HDM ON 30/8/1917 AND 01/09/1917. *
