Born Hull, 29 January 1876. Son of Belper Charles Davies (1853-1895) and Sarah Jane Gladstone (1850-1903).
Described as 5 foot 4.5 inch tall, 141 lbs weight, 36 inch chest, dark brown eyes and dark brown hair, Church of England religion.
Married 23 Dec 1900. Husband of Margaret Roberts Davies (1880-1959), of 5, Sisters Terrace, Lee Smith Street, Hull and 13, Aldborough Grove, Preston Road, Hull (War Pension addresses). They had for children, Margaret, Wilhelmina, John William and Arthur George, born between 1905-1916. Worked as a blacksmith tool repairer
Enlisted on 22 Aug 1914. Served in the 1st East Yorkshire Regiment. Posted to France, on 20 Jan 1915. Wounded on 6 July 1915 (Gunshot wounds to the arm). Returned to England. Transferred to the 8th Royal Defence Corps. He absented himself several times while in England and his Character reference was down graded. Discharged with wounds, on 14 Dec 1917, aged 41. Served for 3 years and 115 days. Awarded the Silver War Badge (No: 287194).
After the war he worked as a Dockside Labourer. He died at Hull, on 19 Aug 1928, aged 52,
