BORN HULL 1887. SON OF THOMAS CAWKWELL. HUSBAND OF ELEANOR MAUD (BORN 9/8/1888), OF 14, BERKSHIRE STREET, OFF BUCKINGHAM STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). PRIOR TO WAR, HE WAS EMPLOYED BY MR ED. RUSSELL, BUILDER, OF HOLDERNESS ROAD, HULL.
HE ENLISTED IN MAY 1916. SERVED AS A SAPPER, IN THE ROYAL ENGINEERS. DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 17/09/1917, AGED 29.
"HE WAS A VERY GOOD SOLDIER AND EXCELLENT COMRADE TO US ALL." HE LEFT A WIDOW TO MOURN HIS LOSS.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 23/10/1917, 27/10/17, 26/09/1918 & 26/09/1919.
HIS THREE BROTHERS SERVED.
HIS WIDOW WAS AWARDED A WEEKLY WAR PENSION OF 29 SHILLINGS.
