BORN BURTON PIDSEA 1899. SON OF HENRY CARRICK BRIGLIN (1859-1931) & HANNAH HARNESS (1864-1940), FROM ROSE COTTAGE, WINESTEAD (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HE HAD 5 BROTHERS AND 8 SISTERS.
A RULLYMAN. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 5 INCHES TALL, 35-37 INCH CHEST, 146 LBS WEIGHT, CHURCH OF ENGLAND RELIGION.
HE ENLISTED BEVERLEY, ON 17/10/1917, AGED 17. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 04/04/1918. SERVED WITH THE 20TH DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY. DIED OF ABDOMEN GUNSHOT WOUNDS, ON 12/09/1918, AGED 19. BURIED IN FRANCE, HE HAD SERVED IN THE ARMY FOR 331 DAYS.
UNMARRIED. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER, HANNAH.
HIS NAME WAS RECORDED ON HULL'S PENNINGTON STREET ROLL OF HONOUR.
HE IS LISTED ON THE WINESTED WAR MEMORIAL, EAST YORKSHIRE WHICH CONTAINS 20 NAMES INCLUDING 6 WHO DIED IN WW1.
HIS BROTHER, ARTHUR HARNESS BRIGLIN SERVED IN THE ROYAL TANK CORPS.
