BORN HULL 1899. SECOND SON OF JAMES LEONARD BIGGS & THEODOCIA (DORNAN), OF 85 , ENGLISH STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). SON OF A FRENCH POLISHER OF WOOD. BEFORE THE WAR, WAS AN APPRENTICE, TO MR GEORGE H. SCORRER LTD, OF 9, ST LUKE'S STREET, HULL. HE ENLISTED IN THE HULL PALS AND WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 10/09/1918, AGED 19.

Hull Pals Memorial Post. PRIVATE FREDERICK BIGGS 51171. Born in March 1899, Frederick was the second of six children to James and Theodocia Biggs of 85 English Street, Hull. Enlisting at City Hall, he originally entered the army as 51507 in the East Riding Yeomanry before being transferred to the 10th Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment Hull Pals; 'The Commercials'. Frederick was killed in action on 10th September 1918 as the battalion consolidated positions around Poncteau Farm and were sniped at from their previous objective of Soyer Farm. He is buried at Pont-D'Achelles Military Cemetery, Nieppe; a young lad of 19.
