EMIGRATED TO CANADA ON 10/02/1913, ARRIVING HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA. WORKED AS A TEAMSTER. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 8.5 INCHES TALL, 34-36.5 INCH CHEST, BLUE EYES, BROWN HAIR, SCAR ON BRIDGE OF HIS NOSE.
HE ENLISTED AT VANCOUVER, ON 25/10/1917. SERVED WITH THE 72ND COLUMBIAN REGIMENT, CANADIAN EXPEDITIONARY FORCE. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 02/09/1918, AGED 24.
HIS NAME IS LISTED WITH HIS BROTHER, LANCE CORPORAL, WALTER SOWEN (1891-1915), 9086, 2ND EYR, KILLED IN ACTION ON 05/05/1915, ON THE BEVERLEY WW1 MEMORIAL.
