BORN HULL 1893. SON OF JOSEPH CLOW (1855-1924) & ELIZABETH ANN WEST, OF 51, DALE STREET, SHIPLEY, YORKSHIRE (1911 CENSUS). SON OF A MASON'S LABOURER. ONE OF FOUR SONS AND TWO DAUGHTERS. A WOOL SCOURER. HE MARRIED EMMA PICKARD, AT NORTH BIERLEY, YORKSHIRE, IN JULY 1911, AGED 18. THEY LIVED AT 26, QUEENS STREET, SALTAIRE ROAD, SHIPLEY.

HE ENLISTED BRADFORD. SERVED AS PRIVATE, 13897, 8TH DUKE OF WELLINGTON'S (WEST RIDING) REGIMENT. HE WAS KILLED AT GALLIPOLI, ON 21/08/1915, AGED 23.

SOLDIER DIED RECORDS STATE THAT HE WAS BORN IN HULL. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, EMMA.

HIS BROTHER, PRIVATE, JOSEPH CLOW, 49764, 2ND LINCOLNSHIRE REGIMENT, WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 09/09/1918, AGED 20.
