ERNEST AMBROSE BROWN

BORN HULL 19/11/1887, AT 22 WALLIKER STREET, HULL. SON OF FREDERICK WILLIAM BROWN (1862-1924) & ELIZABETH ANDREWS BROWN, AT 20, EDGECUMBE STREET, HULL (1911 CENSUS ADDRESS). HE WORKED AS A NORTH EASTERN RAILWAYS, GOODS CLERK & LIVED 66 PEEL STREET, HULL. HE ENLISTED IN HULL. MARRIED ALYS ELIZABETH LOUISE GOODHILL (1890-1965), IN NEWCASTLE, ON 28/03/1915. SERVED WITH THE 1/4TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. DIED AS A PRISONER OF WAR IN GERMANY ON 03/10/1918, AGED 30. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, ALYS (ALICE). SHE REMARRIED ON 27/10/1919.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 20/02/1919 & 03/10/1919 AND IN THE HULL NEWS ON 12/08/1916.
