BORN BARROW ON HUMBER, HULL, 1895. ONLY SON OF GEORGE SARGEANT (1861-1933) & EMMA SMITH (1861-1924), OFSILVER STREET AND  THORNTON STREET, BARROW ON HUMBER (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HE HAD ONE SISTER, CLARA.

UNMARRIED. HE LIVED IN BARROW ON HUMBER WITH HIS PARENTS & GRANDMOTHER, BETSY SMITH.

HE WORKED AS A BUTCHER. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 4.5 INCHES TALL, 37 INCH CHEST, CHURCH OF ENGLAND RELIGION.

ENLISTED AT BARTON ON 28/02/1916. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 24/08/1918. SERVED IN THE 94TH RGA. WOUNDED IN ABDOMEN & BUTTOCKS, ON 05/10/1918. DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 28/09/1918, AGED 22, AT NO;55 CASUALTY CLEARING STATION.

HE HAD SERVED IN THE ARMY FOR 2 YEARS & 222 DAYS, INCLUDING 44 DAYS AT THE FRONT.

HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER. THEY INCLUDED A WALLET, GOOD WATCH AND PROTECTIVE STRAP, SCISSORS AND CASE, RELIGIOUS BOOK AND NOTE BOOK. THE FAMILY REQUESTED THE RETURN OF THE WATCH .

HE IS BURIED AT DOINGT COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION, SOMME, FRANCE.
