BORN HULL 1879. SON OF AARON & ALICE SMALLEY. HUSBAND TO ALICE J (RAYNOR) AT 8 MILTON TERRACE, SOUTH BOULEVARD, HULL. HE SERVED AS SECOND ENGINEER, ON THE FISHING VESSEL, 'ST LAWRENCE', LOST ON 03/10/1914. PRESUMED DROWNED. AGED 36. HE IS RECORDED ON THE SOUTH BOULEVARD ROLL OF HONOUR, HULL (Hull Daily Mail 11 October 1916).

On September 30th, 1914, the British steel trawler ST. LAWRENCE departed Iceland for Hull with fish and went missing with all on board. She was not heard of ever since. Believed to have struck a mine;
