BORN HULL 1897. SON OF GEORGE TOMLINSON (1855-1917) & HARRIET BRADSHAW (1864-1927). OF 1. RAGLAN TERRACE, BEAN STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HE HAD FIVE BROTHERS AND FOUR SISTERS. HE WAS A DRAPERS ERRAND BOY (1911 CENSUS) AND LABOURER. SINGLE MAN. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 5.5 INCHES TALL, 36-38 INCH CHEST, 123 LBS WEIGHT, FAIR PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT (ARMY RECORDS).

HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 18/10/1915. TRAINED AT HEDON, HULL. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 18/02/1916. SERVED WITH THE 7TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 02/09/1918, AGED 22. COMMEMORATED ON THE VIS-EN-ARTOIS MEMORIAL, FRANCE.

HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOWED MOTHER, HARRIET.
