BORN GLOUCESTER 1885. SON OF DANIEL McPHAIL MERRYLESS (1860-1936) AND ELIZA HARRISON (1862-1911). ONE OF NINE CHILDREN AT 86, SPYVEE STREET, HULL.

MARRIED AT SCULCOATES, HULL, JULY 1913. HIS WIFE VIOLET BREWER AND DAUGHTER JOYCE MERRYLEES (BORN 1914), LIVED AT 7, WASHINGTON VILLAS, ROSMEAD STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HE HAS BEEN N THE ARMY FOR FOUR YEARS AND SERVED ABROAD. HE ENLISTED IN HULL. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 08/10/1915, AGED 30. LEFT A WIDOW AND CHILD.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 29/10/1915 WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH, and in the hull times, on 30/10/1915. *

HE LEFT SURVIVING BROTHERS, GEORGE, THOMAS, AND DANIEL, AND SISTERS, BEATRICE, MAUD, AND MABEL.
