Born Manchester, 1891. Brother of Miss Edith Holmes, of 58, Norwood, Beverley, Yorkshire. Employed at an Agricultural Implement Salesman, living at 58, Norwood Beverley with his grandparents and sister. (1911 Census).
he enlisted in Hull. Served as a Lance Bombardier, Royal Field Artillery, 32nd Div. Ammunition Column. Posted to France, on 30/121915. Killed in action, on 18/09/1918, aged 27.
He is commemorated on the Cherry Burton WW1 Memorial
