BORN MEXBOROUGH, 1889. SON OF ROBERT THOMAS HADLOW (1861-1931) AND MTILDA ALDRIDGE (1865-1930), OF 10, NICHOLSON STREET, HULL (1911 CENSUS). SON OF A GLASS BOTTLE MAKER. HE HAD SIX BROTHERS AND THREE SISTERS.

HUSBAND OF JANE FUGAL (JENNY) HADLOW, OF 6, GOODS AVENUE, BUCKINGHAM STREET, HULL (CWGC & WAR PENSION ADDRESS). A LABOURER. HE MARRIED, JANE  IN 1913 AND HAD TWO SONS.

DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 5.5 INCHES TALL, 33 INCH CHEST, 133 LBS WEIGHT, BROWN EYES, AND BROWN HAIR.

HE ENLISTED IN THE HULL PALS. SERVED IN EGYPT AND FRANCE, WITH THE 12TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. DIED OF WOUNDS, IN FRANCE, ON 17/04/1916, AGED 26. HE HAD SERVED IN THE ARMY FOR 1 YEAR AND 215 DAYS. BURIED ON THE SOMME, AT BEAUVAL COMMUNAL CEMETERY. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, "HE DID HIS BIT MAY HEAVEN REWARD HIM FROM HIS LOVING WIFE JENNY". HIS WIFE REMARRIED ON 22/06/1918.

PTE. E.H. HADLOW, EYR (KILLED) IS LISTED ON HULL'S ROSE STREET, MEMORIAL. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 20TH SEPTEMBER 1916.*

EDWARD LEFT SIX BROTHERS AND THREE SISTERS. HIS BROTHER, PRIVATE, ROBERT THOMAS HADLOW, 20162, RAMC WAS DISCHARGED FROM THE ARMY AND DIED IN HULL, ON 05/03/1919, AGED 31 (SILVER WAR BADGE NO: 7363)

PRIVATE EDWARD ALDRIDGE HADLOW 12/296. Born in October 1889 in Mexborough, Edward was one of ten children to Robert and Matilda Hadlow. A Labourer by trade he married Jane Russell in April 1913 and the couple lived at 6, Goods Avenue, Buckingham Street, Hull, with their son John. Edward enlisted at City Hall on 16th September 1914 joining the 12th Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment, 'The Sportsmen', 3rd Hull Pals. A member of 'A' Company he was caught in the blast of a grenade on 16th April 1916 and was withdrawn to 4th Casualty Clearing Station with multiple shrapnel wounds. He died a day later in agonies. Edward Aldridge Hadlow is buried in Beauval Communal Cemetery; he was 26 years old.

Son of Robert and Matilda Hadlow. He had five brothers and three sisters. A Labourer. Enlisted in the Hull Pals. Served in Egypt and France. Died of grenade wounds.

Left widow, Jane Fugal and two sons at 6, Goods Avenue, Buckingham Street, Hull (war pension address). She re-married on 22 June 1918.
