BORN HULL 1876. SON OF JOHN FERNOTT (1836-1880) AND MARY ANN COLLS (1841-1915), OF 1, RICHMOND TERRACE, GRANGE STREET, HULL (1911 CENSUS). HIS FATHER WAS BORN IN HULL AND DIED WHEN HE WAS 4 YEARS OLD. HIS MOTHER WAS A WIDOWED CHARWOMAN, WHO WAS BORN IN NORFOLK. HE HAD THREE SISTERS AND TWO BROTHERS.

HE LIVED IN BRISTOL. WORKED AS A COAL MINER AND HEWER.

HE MARRIED AT BEDMINSTER, SOMERSET, ON 17/04/1898. HIS WIFE, MRS LILY ANN BOWRING (1874-1943), AND FIVE CHILDREN LIVED AT - 28, PHOENIX STREET, BARTON HILL, BRISTOL.

HE ENLISTED AT SWANSEA. SERVED WITH THE 1/6TH WELSH REGIMENT. DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 08/10/1915, AGED 39.

HE IS BURIED AT ST. SEVER CEMETERY, ROUEN, SEINE-MARITIME, FRANCE. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, "THOSE WHO LOVED HIM MISS HIM MOST".
