HE ENLISTED IN SHEFFIELD. SERVED WITH THE 8TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 18/08/1916, AGED 21. COMMEMORATED ON THE THIEPVAL MEMORIAL AT THE SOMME. UNMARRIED. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER, RUTH.
HIS NAME IS LISTED ON THE ALDBRO' STREET MEMORIAL IN HULL.
