BORN HULL OCTOBER 1897. SON OF FRED JENNINGS OLIVER (1867-1942) & SOPHIA ANN WAUDBY (1869-1940).  SON OF A BUILDER CONTRACTOR. HE HAD THREE BROTHERS, HAROLD, SYDNEY AND DONALD. THE FAMILY LIVED AT 2 HORACE AVENUE, CAVE STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). HE ENLISTED IN HULL, SERVED AS PRIVATE, 3072, EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. TRANSFERRED TO THE 20TH TYNESIDE SCOTTISH AND 1/4TH NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS. DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 09/09/1917, AGED 19. UNMARRIED. HE IS BURIED ON THE SOMME. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER, SOPHIA.
