BORN HULL 1898.  THIRD SON OF GEORGE & HANNAH OVERTON, OF 13, WILFRED'S TERRACE, WESTBOURNE STREET, HULL & 14, MAUD PARADE, CARLTON STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESSES). HIS FATHER WAS A FISHERMAN. HIS MOTHER WAS A FISHING NET BRAIDER. TOM WORKED AS A PART TIME NEWSBOY (1911 CENSUS).

ENLISTED HULL. HE ENLISTED UNDERAGE, IN THE 1ST EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 25/09/1916, AGED 18. COMMEMORATED ON THE THIEPVAL MEMORIAL, SOMME, FRANCE.

HE LEFT BROTHERS GEORGE, FRED, WALTER AND ARTHUR AND SISTER, ANNIE.

HIS BROTHER, ARTHUR OVERTON SERVED IN THE 1/5TH YORK & LANCS, WAS CAPTURED ON 11 SEPT 1916 - A REPATRIATED PRISONER OF WAR. HE WAS AWARDED THE SILVER WAR BADGE.
