BORN HULL 1894. LIVED OLDHAM. SON OF JOHN THOMAS PARKINSON & ESTHER ANN HOLT (1862-1925), OF 6, VIOLET STREET, WATERHEAD, OLDHAM. SON OF AN IRON WORKER. HE HAD TWO BROTHERS AND THREE SISTERS. HIS FAMILY WORKED IN THE COTTON SPINNING INDUCTRY (1911 CENSUS). UNMARRIED. HE WAS A COTTON SPINNING LABOURER. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 2.5 INCHES TALL, 115LBS WEIGHT, 36-39 INCH CHEST
HE ENLISTED AT SHAW, LANCASHIRE, ON 18/11/1915. SERVED WITH THE 21ST KING'S ROYAL RIFLE CORPS (8TH PLATTOON, B COMPANY). REPORTED MISSING AND KILLED IN ACTION, ON 17/09/1916, AGED 22. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER, JOHN.
