BORN HULL 1885. SON OF GEORGE AND THE LATE PRISCILLA WALKER, AT THIS CWGC ADDRESS. HE MARRIED MARY ANN WALKER, AND LIVED AT, 1 CEDAR GROVE, ESTCOURT STREET, HULL. A MERCANTILE KEEPER. HE HAD SERVED IN THE REGULAR ARMY AND RESERVES. HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 10/08/1914. ARRIVED IN FRANCE WITH THE BRITISH EXPEDITIONARY FORCE. SERVED AS A LANCE CORPORAL, WITH THE 2ND KINGS OWN YORKSHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY. HE DIED OF WOUNDS AT THE MARNE, ON 27/08/1914, AGED 29. HE LEFT A WIDOW AND SON.
COMMEMORATED ON THE LA FERTE-SOUS-JOUARRE MEMORIAL, MARNE, FRANCE.
