Born Hull 1891. Only Son of John Long (1833-1897) and Hannah Long, of 3 Florence Place Gibson St Hull. He worked as a Motor Driver (1911 Census)

Married on 20 Dec 1914 €¢ St Paul's Church, Hull, aged 23. Husband of Annie Elizabeth (Tizzy) Farnell (1893€“1985) at 7, Fenchurch Street, Stepney Lane, Hull (war pension address). Their first child Gladys died in her first year. They had three other children (Henry, Elsie and Douglas).

He enlisted in the Hull Pals. Formerly Private, 163, East Yorkshire Regiment. Transferred as a Private, 144077, Machine Gun Corps. Served in egypt and France. Discharged on 22 Feb 1919. Died at Hull, on 19 Aug 1924, aged 33.
