Born Great Garton, Louth, Lincolnshire, 1885. Son of Elizabeth and John M. Bell, of Great Carlton, Lincolnshire.
Enlisted at Beverley. Served in the 8th Seaforth Highlanders. Killed at Loos on 20 Sept 1915, aged 29.
His army effects were left to his father, John.
He is commemorated on the Loos Memorial, France.
Also recorded on the East Riding Police, WW1 Memorial Plaque, at St Mary’s Church, Hengate, Beverley. (of the Twenty Policemen killed in WW1, ten served with the Seaforth Highlanders.)
