Killed at the Somme, on 12\/09\/1916, aged 28. (Note: his names is spelt &#8220;Beard&#8221; in CWGC records)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">He lost his eldest brother,\u00a0<strong>William Bird,<\/strong> on 22 October 1914, aged 30, fighting with the 2nd Coldstream Guards. his other brother, CSM,\u00a0<strong>Albert Bird<\/strong>, 1st Coldstream Guards, was awarded the Military Medal, and was killed, on the 27th September 1918, aged 28.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Born Hull 1889.
