They were:- <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">L\/Cpl, <strong>John Mercer<\/strong>, 1st EYR was killed at Ypres on 9th August 1915, aged 20. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">L\/Cpl, <strong>Alfred Shaw Mercer<\/strong>, 1st West Yorkshire Regiment was killed on the 27th May 1916, aged 25. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Pte, <strong>George Mercer<\/strong>, 1\/5th Bn Northumberland Fusiliers was killed on the 10th April 1918 aged 18. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;\">Pte, <strong>James Mercer<\/strong>, 10th EYR, died of wounds 11th September 1918, aged 29.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>John &amp; Hannah Mercer, at 36 Shaw Street lost four sons.
