HE WORKED AS A PLUMBER IN SWAFFHAM, NORFOLK (1911 CENSUS). HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 19/11/1915, AGED 28 YEARS AND 330 DAYS. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 7 INCHES TALL, 34.5 INCH CHEST, AND 130 LBS WEIGHT. HE ARRIVED IN FRANCE, ON 05/07/1916. POSTED TO THE EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT IN THE FIELD, ON 10/07/1916. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 23/07/1916, AGED 29. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE THIEPVAL MEMORIAL. HE LEFT £200 IN HIS WILL TO HIS FATHER AT THIS PROBATE ADDRESS.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN HULL DAILY MAIL 11/10/1916. PLUMBER.
