SS Rhydwen, built by Richardson, Duck & Co. Ltd., Stockton in 1914 and owned at the time of her loss by W. & C. T. Jones SS. Co. Ltd., Cardiff, was a British steamer of 4799 tons. On April 18th, 1917, Rhydwen, on a voyage from Galveston to Cardiff with a cargo of wheat, was sunk by the German submarine U-67 (Hans Nieland), 170 miles NWxW1/2W of Fastnet. 6 persons were lost.
