BORN HULL 1893. FOURTH SON OF AARON/SARAH ANDERSON, OF 87 BARNSLEY STREET, HULL AND  12 HARCOURT STREET, HULL. EX CANSTER WORKER AT RECKITTS. ENLISTED IN THE HULL PALS IN DECEMBER 1914. SERVED IN EGYPT & FRANCE. KILLED BY A SNIPER. PHOTO IN THE HDM 01/09/1916. *
Hull Pals Memorial. PRIVATE GEORGE ANDERSON 12/1155. Born in 1893, George was a labourer by trade and lived at 5 Halton Terrace, Hotham Street, Hull. He enlisted at City Hall on 12th December 1914 joining the 12th Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment, ‘The Sportsmen’, 3rd Hull Pals. He served in Egypt from Christmas 1915 until 29th February 1916 when they left Port Said for Marseilles and north to the trenches of the Western Front. George was killed in action on 28th August 1916 and is buried in St. Vaast Post Military Cemetery; he was 23 years old.
